About Me

Since the beginning of my teaching career, I’ve focused on channeling my talent and creativity into meaningful and engaging curricula for my students.  I firmly believe that growing and expanding our minds is what makes life so special. Our world needs innovation and creative thinking more than ever, and  I have developed a passion for designing learning experiences that inspire people. Whether that is a student in a classroom or an employee learning a new trade or mastering a trade; learning is an agent of change.

When I am not working, you can find me testing new recipes, spending quality time with friends and family, reading a sci-fi book, or hiking.

Fun Fact: I have been to 17 National Parks!

Learners at the Heart of Instruction

Learners are the most essential pieces in the complex puzzle of instructional design. Understanding the cognitive abilities and constraints of the learner is imperative to achieve desired outcomes. Even the most impressive, cutting-edge learning experience can falter if it does not consider how the audience learns, their prior knowledge and skill level, and how all of these factors influence learning design. Before any action is taken in a design process, the instructional designer has a responsibility to lay the foundation using their knowledge of how people learn.

I believe learning is a passionate endeavor. People learn faster, deeper, and with more success when learning experiences relate to their lives, provide meaning, and create opportunities for innovation and creativity. I enjoy building educational courses that involve multimedia, interactive components, and real-world applications. I have a strong understanding of design components that make learning an esthetically pleasing endeavor, as well as a rich experience that involves active learner participation and engagement.
